Danske Bank Celebrates 200 Years in Business

9th September 2026

For two centuries, the Bank’s support has underpinned economic growth. From fuelling our shipbuilding and linen industries during the industrial revolution through to today, paving the way for new infrastructure and new technologies and helping many local companies to compete on the global stage.

They have of course been helping people and families realise their ambitions over that time too. Whether supporting them to buy their first home, helping them plan for the future or simply by making banking easier for them.

Vicky Davies, CEO of Danske Bank UK, has led many celebratory events and activities across the year with colleagues, customers and stakeholders. Reflecting on the significance of the milestone, Vicky said:

“Our local society and our economy has seen many changes. Throughout it all, our people have dedicated themselves to helping customers. We look forward to our third century in business, with an unwavering vision, passion and commitment to support customers, wider society and the economy.”

To mark the occasion the Bank commissioned a commemorative photobook, which you can read in the ‘about us’ section of the Bank’s website (danskebank.co.uk).

Another highlight was a special 200-year Board dinner within the Bank’s headquarters, which hosted both current and former Northern Bank Board members. See below a photo from the event, which pictured three former Chairs of the Ulster Society – Michael Black (Northern Bank Board member), Sir Desmond Lorimer (former Northern Bank Chair) and Kevin Kingston (former Northern Bank CEO).

Also pictured, with promotional 200-year umbrellas, is the Bank’s current Deputy CEO Stephen Matchett and CEO Vicky Davies.
