Chartered Accountants Ireland has launched new Charity Pages, providing practical guidance and resources for members who work with, advise or volunteer for charities in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Mike O’Halloran, Technical Manager with Chartered Accountants Ireland, said members often act as trusted advisers to charities, whether in their professional roles or as trustees or volunteers.

“While working with charities can be very rewarding, it can also present challenges and potential risks as organisations navigate increasingly complex financial reporting, audit and regulatory requirements in Ireland and the UK”, O’Halloran said.

The Institute’s Charity Pages have been designed to help members access relevant guidance on key charity-related issues, including:

• Financial reporting requirements, including selecting an appropriate reporting framework and determining whether the Charity SORP applies.

• Audit requirements, including additional considerations that auditors may need to take into account when carrying out charity audits.

• Charity regulation, including the roles of the charity regulators in Ireland and Northern Ireland, together with links to practical guidance and resources.
